DALLAS (AP) - Big Tex is getting some new duds that he'll wear to greet some 3 million people who are expected to attend the State Fair of Texas beginning next month.
Fair officials showed off the clothes Tuesday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The 55-foot-tall Big Tex will get a navy blue shirt to replace a white one he wore last year. The new shirt has patches of red on the chest and shoulders with white stars. The cuffs also are red.
He'll wear blue denim pants with Dickies belt buckle. A 95-gallon hat will continue to sit atop his head.
The new threads will be on display when Big Tex is moved into place on the fairgrounds Sept. 19.
The fair is scheduled to run from Sept. 26 to Oct. 19.
