ATHENS, Texas (AP) - Authorities have temporarily suspended a
search for the son of former Texas Gov. Bill Clements after finding
a body in a shallow grave on property next to land he owned in East
The Dallas Morning News reported Saturday that the body has not
been identified, but that Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt says
the search for 69-year-old B. Gill Clements has been paused pending
identification by the medical examiner.
The body was found on the property of 46-year-old Howard Todd
Granger. Police shot Granger dead Friday afternoon while trying to
serve a search warrant at his home.
Nutt says Granger confronted authorities with an AK-47 rifle,
fired on an armored vehicle and was killed in a shootout.
Clements was reported missing Thursday night.
