Houston police have detained a teen for questioning after an 11-year-old boy was fatally shot at an apartment complex.

Authorities are trying to determine whether a 15-year-old boy fired the gun Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe the bullet ricocheted and struck his younger friend, who was standing nearby.

Sgt. Ben Williams says investigators think the shooting was an accident.

The name of the victim was not immediately released. Further details were not immediately available.
