A Bryan man accused in a pair of bomb threats at Texas universities has been convicted in one case.

Dereon Kelley was found guilty Wednesday on three counts of "using the Internet to convey a false threat involving an explosive device in order to intimidate individuals at Texas State University," according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

In addition to the Texas State incident from October 18, the 22-year-old is accused in the October 19 threat against Texas A&M University.

Prosecutors showed the jury that Kelley had hacked the e-mail account of his former girlfriend, Brittany Henderson, and sent three messages threatening an attack on the Admission's Office at Texas State.

Henderson, 19, was originally charged in the Texas State incident, but those charges were dropped in March.

The jury in Kelley's trial deliberated for an hour after a two-day trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for next month. Kelley faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
