LAKE WHITNEY (March 22, 2012)—Two Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife rangers rounded up a really big rattlesnake Wednesday on the shore of Lake Whitney.

The rangers said the western diamondback rattlesnake was sunning itself when they found it Wednesday.

Despite the size, the rangers said the snake was nothing to be concerned about.

They said snakes are vital in the control of rodent and pest populations.
