SAN ANTONIO - A basic training squadron in South Texas under scrutiny in a sex scandal investigation has a change in leadership.

The Air Force on Wednesday relieved Lt. Col. Mike Paquette as commander of the 331st Training Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Lt. Col. John Gondol will now lead the 331st Training Squadron.

Four Lackland instructors have been accused of improper sexual contact with recruits.

A military attorney, Col. Polly Kenny, says Col. Eric Axelbank, commander of the 37th Training Wing, has lost confidence in Paquette's ability to lead. Kenny says Paquette has not been accused of misconduct and the move is not punitive. His new assignment will be determined this summer.

Paquette couldn't immediately be reached for comment. A message left Thursday with the 37th Training Wing wasn't immediately returned.
