Dallas Woman Accused in Death of Stepson, 10

DALLAS (AP) - A North Texas jury has begun deliberating the fate of a Dallas woman accused in the 2011 dehydration death of her 10-year-old stepson.

Jurors in Dallas on Friday received the case of Tina Marie Alberson. She's charged with felony injury to a child in the July 2011 death of Jonathan James.

Investigators say the boy collapsed at home after being denied water for days as punishment for bed wetting, sneaking food and other supposed mistakes.

Alberson testified in her own defense, saying she saw no sign that Jonathan was in medical distress.

Alberson faces up to life in prison if convicted. The boy's father, Michael James, faces trial on the same charge next month.
