Officials say a Dallas-area mayor and an attorney were the targets of an alleged murder-for-hire plot that federal authorities say was orchestrated by a topless club owner embroiled in a dispute with the city.
A statement from the city of Arlington says FBI agents thwarted the plot against Mayor Robert Cluck and attorney Tom Brandt.
FBI agents arrested club co-owner Ryan Walker Grant on Monday. An affidavit says he asked an unidentified informant to arrange the murders. Online court records don't list an attorney for Grant.
Arlington has been working to revoke Grant's license to operate a sexually oriented business.
A call to Cluck's office Wednesday wasn't immediately returned. Brandt, a Dallas attorney working for the city, says he's been advised by the FBI not to comment.
