Dallas police have released the name of a 28-year-old man who was carrying a gun and fatally shot as he fell while trying to flee.
Police on Friday identified the man as Aaron Massey. Investigators are trying to determine whether Massey intentionally shot himself, or his gun accidentally fired.
Highland Village police on Thursday afternoon attempted to arrest Massey, who was suspected of fleeing from officers Wednesday
during a traffic stop. Police had spotted his vehicle in the parking lot of a business.
Lt. C.L. Williams says Massey began running when officers walked
into the store and asked for him. Police say Massey apparently
stumbled, fell and a gun he was carrying went off.
Police did not draw their weapons.
