A jury in Galveston is to hear closing arguments in the capital murder trial of a Houston man charged with killing a 79-year-old bystander outside a Southeast Texas courthouse.
Bartholomew Granger's accused of killing Minnie Ray Sebolt in a shooting rampage outside the Jefferson County Courthouse last March. Authorities say Sebolt was caught in lethal crossfire outside the downtown Beaumont courthouse.
Granger faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty convicted Tuesday. Prosecutors want the 42-year-old former truck driver and rap performer on death row.
Granger testified in his own defense Monday. He acknowledged shooting his daughter and running over her with his truck for testifying against him in a sexual assault trial where she was the alleged victim. However, he denied killing Sebolt.
