HOUSTON (AP) - The attorney for a woman on trial for the 2010 slaying of a 12-year-old Houston boy has suggested the boy's stepfather is to blame.
Mona Nelson is charged with capital murder in the death of Jonathan Foster, whose badly burned body was found stuffed in a culvert. The child disappeared Christmas Eve 2010.
Nelson has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say they don't have a motive.
The Houston Chronicle reports Nelson's attorney, Allen Tanner, has suggested that David Davis had a motive because his stepson had come between him and his wife.
Davis denied such claims on Thursday. Video surveillance presented at trial seems to show Davis was at a bar when the boy disappeared.
Nelson has chosen to have a judge decide her case instead of a jury.
