Investigators blame apparent engine failure for a Central Texas helicopter crash as the pilot was surveying cattle and fences.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the pilot wasn't hurt during Wednesday's crash in Bosque County.

The Hiller UH-12B ended up in a field near Kopperl, about 55 miles south of Fort Worth. The two-seat chopper lost its tail rotor and sustained other damage.

The name of the pilot, who was alone on the helicopter, wasn't immediately released.
