HOUSTON (AP) - A former elementary school teacher has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for possessing and distributing child pornography.
Juan Antonio Villarreal was sentenced Tuesday in Houston after pleading guilty earlier in the year to a variety of charges. Prosecutors say the investigation began last year when a Beaumont police officer discovered several images of child pornography on the Internet. Those images were traced to a computer at the Houston home of the 53-year-old Villarreal. Investigators ultimately found nearly 1,500 images and about 275 videos of child porn.
Villarreal taught the third grade at a Houston elementary school at the time of his arrest.
Testimony in court revealed that Villarreal at one point tricked an underage relative to send him nude photos of herself that he posted online.
