HOUSTON (AP) Thousands of firefighters from around the country have filed into a Houston stadium to honor four firefighters who were killed last week in a massive motel blaze.
They marched under arches of flags extending from ladder trucks, and many wore badges that were shrouded in black. Dozens of emergency services vehicles from New Orleans, Dallas and elsewhere formed a long procession on the streets leading to the stadium.
Two fire trucks with extended ladders displayed a giant U.S. flag inside the stadium, home to the NFL's Houston Texans. Numerous flower wreaths are near the stage. Video screens showed photos of the four fallen firefighters.
The four were killed when the motel structure collapsed. Investigators at the scene of the five-alarm blaze at the Southwest Inn have said they are focusing on an attic and the kitchen area of a restaurant connected to the motel.
