An unloaded gun was found at a Magnolia Independent School District elementary school on Wednesday.
MISD officials said they received information Wednesday afternoon that an elementary student had a weapon on the Lyon Elementary campus. Staff quickly recovered the unloaded gun. Officials said the student did not have any ammunition and do not believe the student intended to use the weapon on campus.
The district, along with the Precinct 5 of the Montgomery County Constable's Office, completed the investigation.
Parents of Lyon Elementary students were informed of the incident by a MISD phone message.
The district says it is committed to providing a safe environment for all students and will continue to work with parents and law enforcement to achieve this goal.
