KILLEEN A experimental homemade plane crashed in a wooded area Saturday north of Skylark Field in Killeen.

The pilot, whose name was not immediately released, wasn’t injured.

A passerby called police at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday and reported that he was watching a small plane that looked like it might crash.

A short time later the pilot called police to report the crash.

First responders couldn’t see the plane and had to call out to the pilot in order to locate the crash site.

They found the 56-year-old pilot unharmed.

No one else was aboard.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
