Houston Police Find Baby in Refrigerator

Houston police say officers called to an apartment by a suicidal man found the body of his 6-month-old son in the refrigerator.

Houston Homicide Sgt. Ora Chandler says the man's call came in about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, but arriving paramedics had to force their way into the apartment.

Chandler says the man had with several wounds, apparently self-inflicted. He said the man also said he had put his son in the refrigerator about 6 p.m. Tuesday after finding that he had stopped breathing.

The father, whose identity police were withholding, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in police custody. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday evening.

An autopsy is planned on the child.
