HOUSTON (AP) Houston fire officials say investigators trying to determine the cause of a blaze at a Houston motel that killed four firefighters are concentrating on the kitchen area of a restaurant there.
Deputy Chief Ed Arthur, head of the fire department's arson division, said Tuesday that they are trying to find the source of the fire's ignition and why the roof collapsed, trapping the firefighters who died Friday.
He says engineers and fire protection experts are among dozens of investigators going through the wreckage at the Southwest Inn. Arthur says it's likely the scene will be processed within the next two weeks, but a report on the findings could take months.
A memorial service is set for Wednesday. The fire was the deadliest in the 118-year history of the department.
