A suspect in a Central Texas double slaying has died after apparently hanging himself in his jail cell.
The Burnet (BER'-net) County Sheriff's Office on Sunday identified the inmate as Gregory Currie. Sheriff W.T. Smith says Currie apparently used part of a bedsheet to hang himself. Jailers found his body Saturday night.
Firefighters in Spicewood on Wednesday night discovered the bodies of Thomas Wells and his girlfriend Dorrina Reese in a burning home. Currie was arrested Thursday on a capital murder charge.
Two other suspects remained in custody Monday. Juston Curbow has been charged with capital murder. Melissa Frink faces a charge of tampering with evidence.
Investigators say the suspects knew the victims. Authorities haven't said how Wells and Reese died.
Spicewood is 55 miles northwest of Austin.
