A former Waco kindergarten teacher is set to go on trial Monday, charged with multiple counts of sexual misconduct in connection with abuse of students.
Fernando Campos, 41, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child by contact and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Campos is a former teacher at Alta Vista Montessori Magnet School kindergarten and has been held since his arrest on March 22, 2010 in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $900,000 bond and on an immigration hold.
In an affidavit filed August 5, 2010, a female victim says Campos touched her inappropriately, both over and under her clothes, on four different occasions when she was a student in his class.
According to court records this victim was his fourth.
On June 16, 2010, Campos was named in an indictment charging continuous sexual abuse of a child and four counts of indecency with a child by contact in incidents involving two of his young students in 2009.
A case involving another student was still pending at the time the indictment was handed down by the grand jury, prosecutors said.
In April, he was charged with indecency with a child in an incident involving yet another student at the school, where he worked as a bilingual pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teacher.
