It's a big honor for one of our story tellers here at KBTX News 3.
Reporter Shane McAuliffe was awarded the Barbara Jordan Media Award by the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities for his story "Coaching From A Different Perspective."
Shane's story focused on former A&M Consolidated High School football coach Kyle Walsh.
Walsh played football for A&M Consolidated and was part of the 1991 State Championship Team.
A car accident left Walsh paralyzed but it didn't keep him away from the game of football.
Walsh will be heading to the new College Station High School this fall to help build the school's football program.
This is the first time KBTX has been awarded the Barbara Jordan Media Award, an award that's been given out annually for 29 years.
