AUSTIN, Texas - - - The smiling face of Lady Bird Johnson goes on a U.S. postage stamp dedicated by the U.S. Postal Service in Austin on Friday.
The dedication at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center of the University of Texas at Austin came on the 47th anniversary of the signing of legislation Johnson promoted to beautify America's highways.
The souvenir sheets consist of six stamps, each with a quote from Johnson on her belief in environmental protection of the nation's countryside.
The stamps can be preordered now for delivery early next month.
Johnson was first lady from November 22nd, 1963, to January 20th, 1969, during the administration of her husband, Lyndon B. Johnson.
