A Houston-area man has been arrested after police found an elderly woman's body buried outside a home he shared with his mother.
League City police on Thursday night discovered the body under freshly turned dirt in the backyard. Officers had been investigating suspicious activity on an 80-year-old woman's bank account.
Police did not immediately say whether the dead woman was the mother of 54-year-old John Scott Timler. Officials say the search began after Timler, who was at the home, gave conflicting information on the whereabouts of his mother.
Timler has been charged with forgery and abuse of a corpse. He remained in custody Friday with bond set at more than $102,000. Online jail records did not list an attorney for Timler.
