Jesus Aurelio Trevino of San Antonio pleaded guilty Thursday to helping others make false statements during gun purchases.
The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/15GEUbw ) reports Trevino also pleaded guilty to gun smuggling conspiracy. Trevino faces up to five years in prison on each count when he's sentenced later this year.
Prosecutors say Trevino helped recruit straw buyers to purchase mostly assault rifles at pawn shops and gun stores in San Antonio.
Investigators say a Border Patrol stop last August near Eagle Pass turned up dozens of assault rifles, handguns, magazines and ammunition. Several guns in that load were linked to purchases by buyers allegedly lined up by Trevino.
