A 24-year-old man who was kicked out of a Houston bar with a friend last year has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to setting the place on fire and then trying to block the people inside from fleeing.
Gabino Silva pleaded guilty Friday to felony arson. Surveillance camera evidence from the April 2012 incident showed Silva and companion Jaime Mata barricading the front door of the bar, then pouring gasoline at the back door and igniting it.
People inside managed to get out safely through a third exit to the building.
Mata pleaded guilty to similar charges earlier this month and now is serving 30 years in prison.
