ROCKDALE A Milam County woman has been charged with murder for the death of her 2 year old foster child. Sherill Small was charged with murder after Alexandria Hill died after being taken off life support on Wednesday.
According to investigators, Monday night, Rockdale police responded to a 911 call at Small's home and found Hill not breathing and unresponsive. Emergency crews performed CPR on her and transported her to a hospital where she was placed on life support after medical personnel discovered she had suffered severe head trauma.
Rockdale police say Hill had been placed in Small's home in February by Texas Children's Protective Services. Investigators interviewed Small but her explanation was considered inconsistent with Hill's injuries, according to police.
An autopsy on Hill is still pending. Small is in custody under a $100,000 bond. Rockdale is about 40 miles northeast of Austin.
