Montgomery County authorities say a pair of criminals robbed more than 100 victims of their mail, all to open credit cards and steal money.

For one victim, David Hobbs, it all began in April. First, mail started disappearing and then something arrived he wasn’t expecting.
"We seen a credit card in it we hadn’t applied for. We went to the house and a few minutes later we seen a car pull up here and stop at the mailbox," said Hobbs.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Rob Freyer says that the criminals would apply for credit cards with people’s identities and return to the mailbox to steal them once the cards arrived.

"They could have cleaned out our savings account, and checking account and everything we had," said Hobbs.

The suspects are Tamara Luthe and Joe Henning, who both face felony fraud charges.

"She has no business being out on the street. None at all. She needs to be in jail, that’s where she belongs. And her husband, boyfriend Joe Henning is on federal parole right now for the same things. He’s where he needs to be too. Jail," said Freyer.

Henning served almost two years for masterminding a credit card skimming operation in Houston restaurants.

"They don’t care. It’s the easy road. Just steal and take from someone else. They deserve to be treated harshly and they will be," said Freyer.

Now, Hobbs passes his mailbox without even looking. He picks everything up at the post office.
