Most Wanted Sex Offender Arrested in Longview

Michael Wayne Hopson, 57, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being arrested in Longview on Tuesday by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division agents. Hopson was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in Anderson County, Texas, and indecent exposure in Payne County, Okla.

Hopson was arrested at approximately 12 p.m. Tuesday at a local soup kitchen in Longview and was taken into custody without incident. Hopson’s criminal history includes multiple charges of indecent exposure and failure to register as a sex offender. This arrest was not a result of a tip and no reward will be paid. See Hopson’s captured bulletin at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/SexOffenderDetails.aspx?id=188.

So far in 2013, DPS and other agencies have arrested nine Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, and $10,000 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
