HOUSTON (AP) Students at a Houston-area high school where a stabbing took place will enter the building Monday morning through metal detectors.

KHOU-TV reports that Spring High School will search all students with either a handheld wand or a walk-through detector. Only clear backpacks will be allowed, and all but two entrances to the building will be closed.

District officials haven't said how long they will enforce the new measures.

Classes were canceled for three days after the attack, which left one student dead.

A 17-year-old was arrested in the attack. Luis Alonzo Alfaro was charged with murder in the death of 17-year-old Joshua Devon Broussard.

Authorities say Alfaro told them he bumped a different student in the school cafeteria, triggering an altercation believed to be gang related.
