DALLAS (AP) - Storms have dumped nearly a foot of rain in parts of North Texas and delayed travel amid concerns about possible flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch through Friday afternoon for the Dallas-Fort Worth area and points north, including Denton, Gainesville, Sherman and Denison.

Forecaster Jason Dunn says Valley View, 50 miles northwest of Dallas, received almost 11 inches of rain during a 24-hour period ending Thursday morning.

The Cooke County Sheriff's Office had no reports of injuries or damage.

Parts of Interstate 35 through Denton and Cooke counties were closed early Thursday during heavy rain but reopened midway through morning rush hour.

The tracking site reports delays at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Electric provider Oncor says about 3,000 customers in North Texas lost power.
