IRVING, Texas (AP) An off-duty North Texas police officer has been shot twice during a domestic dispute with his estranged wife and she later allegedly took her own life.

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office says the wife apparently shot her husband Tuesday night while at the Irving officer's home near Mansfield. Authorities say the wounded officer managed to get to a neighbor's place to summon help.

Investigators say a body believed to be the woman was later discovered in a car in neighboring Johnson County. Authorities say the woman apparently committed suicide.

Officials say the wounded officer has injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Names of the couple and further details weren't immediately released.
