One Dead in Austin Apartment Fire

One man has died after an early morning fire at an Austin apartment complex.

Authorities say a firefighters responding to a blaze Saturday at the Saddle Creek Apartments in South Austin found a man in the bedroom in the apartment where fire broke out in the kitchen.

Fire Captain Marc Saenz tells the Austin American-Statesman the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim has not been immediately identified.

No one else has been hurt and authorities say other units of the apartment complex have escaped damage.

Cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
