The multi-year drought lingering across the state and much of the country is affecting water supplies of some towns in our area.
According to records from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Tribune, specific municipal districts in Washington, Walker, Montgomery, and Limestone Counties have water systems that are at risk of running short of water in less than six months.
The Montgomery County Municipal Utility District 89 and the City of Burton in Washington County both are at risk of running out of water within 180 days.
The cities of Groesbeck and Frisby's Landing both face an even greater threat, with a supply of less than 90 days each.
