DALLAS (AP) The big reveal of the new Big Tex has been moved up.
The 55-feet tall rebuilt Big Tex was set to be officially unveiled on Friday, the opening day of the State Fair of Texas. But on Thursday, television news helicopters got a glimpse of the top portion of the fair icon surrounded on four sides by draping.
Fair officials then announced that due to the wind, they would do the unveil Thursday afternoon.
Big Tex was rebuilt for this year after going up in flames in the closing days of the fair last year.
Helicopter footage showed him wearing a light-colored cowboy hat and a shirt of red, white and blue with stars.
