Ride 2 Recovery Comes to Brazos Valley

Good to Know:

  • Expect traffic delays as the cyclists travel to the Bush Library tomorrow at 8am and then again as they leave town from Discovery Drive to F.M. 60.
  • Ride 2 Recovery helps wounded veterans recover by offering cycling as a way to cope with the agonies of war.
  • The ride the cyclists navigate is symbolic of the road to recovery every veteran faces when they return from service.

COLLEGE STATION - Ride 2 Recovery is a non-profit organization that hosts outdoor cycling events to help injured veterans rehabilitate, both physically and mentally, from the agonies of war.

This ride encourages wounded veterans on their road to recovery. And the group designs special bikes and equipment, so even those with serious disabilities can participate.

"I started cycling, I never rode before and I found it very, very healing being around other guys who were in the armed services as well and we can all relate and talk about our issues and that's the peer to peer mentoring and therapy that helps so much with riding a bike and being a part of the program," said Veteran Juan Hernandez

Expect traffic delays tomorrow morning at 8 as the cyclists, escorted by police, ride from the Hampton Inn at University and Texas to the George Bush Library. And they'll be escorted again as they leave town when they're done at the library. That'll be along Discovery Drive and west on F.M. 60.
