SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a dermatologist as he was riding his bicycle on a freeway access road near San Antonio.
The death of 68-year-old Larry Becker happened Thursday when he was hit along Interstate 10 in Boerne (BER'-nee) while training for an annual ride across his native Iowa.
Department of Public Safety troopers arrested 64-year-old Joseph Thomas Gabay on a charge of failure to stop and render aid involving death.
The San Antonio Express-News reports that Becker was a retired Army colonel who had closed his dermatology practice in Boerne and was teaching at the University of Texas Health Science Center and a veterans hospital.
Gabay is being held in Kendall County on $50,000 bond. No attorney information was available.
