DALLAS (AP) Funeral services are scheduled for Monday for the Dallas firefighter killed when he was struck by a vehicle and thrown from a highway overpass.
The funeral for 40-year-old William Scott Tanksley will be held in Terrell, east of Dallas, at the school district's performing arts center. It's scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
Authorities say Tanksley was clearing a car accident Monday evening on the icy overpass when a vehicle passing by lost control and struck him, knocking Tanksley from the overpass and onto Interstate 20 below. No charges have been filed and police say the death will be referred to a grand jury for review.
Tanksley, a 14-year veteran of the fire department, was the married father of three children.
