Six suspected illegal immigrants have been killed and nine hurt when a truck being pursued in South Texas crashed into a security barrier at Naval Air Station Kingsville.
Kingsville police were pursuing the pickup truck Wednesday night. Air station spokesman Jon Gagne says a guard tried to approach the vehicle but the driver sped through the entrance. The vehicle then hit a popup barrier that had been activated.
Department of Public Safety Senior Corporal Charlie Ramirez said Thursday that some of the 15 people in the truck were from Honduras. The driver is among the injured.
No victims have been identified. Conditions of the survivors weren't immediately available.
Kingsville is about 40 miles southwest of Corpus Christi.
