A South Texas man is in custody charged with three counts of capital murder after his girlfriend and her two sons were stabbed at her home in Alice early Friday.
Alice Police Chief Daniel Bueno told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that 24-year-old Phillip Jesus Chapa was arrested without incident at his home hours after police found 41-year-old Michelle Hughes and her sons, 20-year-old Ivan Joshua Hughes and 15-year-old William Bryan Hughes.
The 911 call came to police shortly before 4 a.m. and Bueno says it appeared there had been an ongoing domestic dispute. He said Chapa was under the influence of alcohol when arrested. Chapa remained in the Jim Wells County Jail Friday on bond totaling $2.25 million. He did not yet have a lawyer.
