A Houston man has been sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison for his role in the 2009 attempted robbery and robbery of armored cars.
Federal prosecutors in Houston say 24-year-old Walter Keitric Freeman was sentenced Wednesday.
Freeman in April pleaded guilty to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. He also pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm during a violent crime.
Several robbers tried to steal from a Loomis Armored US, Inc. truck in August 2009 but fled without any cash.
A November 2009 holdup led Freeman to fire a pistol in the direction of a Loomis truck guard who was hit but survived. Robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash. Prosecutors say Freeman must return his share of the money.
Four others who pleaded guilty await sentencing.
