DENTON, Texas - - Police say a 5-year-old Texas boy is in critical condition after being shot in the head by his older brother.

Denton Police spokesman Orlando Hinojosa told the Denton Record-Chronicle the boy was airlifted to a Dallas hospital Saturday after his 8-year-old brother shot him with a .22-caliber rifle he found inside the family home around 11:30 a.m. He said police are investigating the incident as an accident.

Two adults and other children were at home when the shooting occurred. Hinojosa said the boy was in critical condition.

Denton is about 40 miles north of Dallas.
