AUSTIN, Texas Police say one person has been died amid extensive flooding in Central Texas that was triggered by heavy rains.
The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that the Caldwell County Sheriff's office said Thursday a man died after driving on a low-lying portion of road overtaken by flooding.
He was swept out of his vehicle in Dale, south of Austin. Emergency crews recovered his body nearby a short time later.
The victim wasn't immediately identified pending notification of his relatives. The sheriff's office did not return calls seeking additional comment and details.
The downpours began Wednesday night and continued Halloween morning, causing widespread flooding in and around Austin and across other parts of Texas.
Officials used boats, rafts and even helicopters to make dozens of emergency rescues.
