Investigators say an 18-year-old Houston-area volunteer firefighter has died in a motorcycle wreck after leaving a fire station.
Montgomery County authorities say Nathan Scott Raulz of Conroe was killed Wednesday afternoon when his cycle hit an SUV. Officials believe the SUV had slowed to make a turn near Conroe and the accident happened as Raulz attempted to pass the larger vehicle.
Fire Chief John Farthing says Raulz had been a volunteer firefighter for three years. The teen worked his last shift at the Central Montgomery County Fire-Rescue station on Monday, but was known to spend his off-duty time at the location.
Authorities say Raulz graduated last weekend from Conroe High School and planned to serve in the Army.
