Third Person Arrested in Connection to Murder of Porter Man

Porter, TX– UPDATE: June 30: The Montgomery County Sheriff's office has dropped the charges against one of the three people arrested for the murder of William Aragon.

Investigators now believe Derica Shipley was also a victim of Kappy Joe, the man they say shot and killed Aragon. After the murder, deputies say Joe kidnapped Shipley, took her to his house and held against her will.

A third person has been arrested in connection with the Wednesday murder of William Aragon, 32, of Porter.

Joe Louie “Sleepy” Rodriguez, 32, of Houston is now charged with first-degree murder.

Around 6 pm Friday, deputies received information Rodriguez was in the area of Old Sorters Road and E. Terrace Drive in his 2003 purple Cadillac CTS.

The deputies located Rodriguez and initiated a felony traffic stop on the vehicle. They confirmed his identity and warrant, and then Rodriguez was taken into custody. His car was seized.

Wednesday evening, Kappy Earl Joe Jr., 29, of Houston and
Derica Alycee Shipley, 26 of Kingwood were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Around 8 a.m. Wednesday, MCSO deputies responded to a call from a woman who said she arrived home to her residence in the 24300 Block of East Terrace Drive in Porter, where she found her door was forced open. She retreated and called for help. Deputies entered the residence and found William Aragon dead in his bed, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office responded to the location to conduct an investigation. They learned Aragon and Kappy Joe were in an altercation at the residence earlier that morning. Detectives soon secured an arrest warrant for Kappy Joe and for Derica Shipley, who was also present when the shooting occurred.

Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, the MCSO SWAT Team and MCSO Detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the 3800 block of Wintergreen Drive in Atascocita, where they found and arrested Kappy Joe and Derica Shipley. They also collected evidence from that location.

Precinct 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden said he was glad his deputies were able to assist with the investigation by arresting the third suspect.

Officials have no released any information regarding the reason for the dispute that turned deadly and has now resulted in three first-degree murder charges.
