A suspected gunman is dead and three Harris County sheriff's deputies are under investigation after the deputies gunned down the suspect outside a house in the northern Houston suburbs.
A statement Tuesday from the Harris County Sheriff's Office says the deputies responding to a call around daybreak found a man armed with a pistol beating on a vehicle in front of the caller's house. The caller also reported the man was trying to climb a security fence onto the property.
The deputies arrived, saw the suspect standing by a gate and ordered him several times to drop his weapon. Instead, they said he pointed it at them and prompted them to open fire on him.
The sheriff's office didn't identify the suspect. The deputies are on administrative duty pending investigation.
