SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The University of Texas at San Antonio has fired a longtime spokesman days after he was charged with sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy.
UTSA on Monday announced the dismissal of 47-year-old David Lee Gabler.
Gabler was associate vice president for communications and had been employed by UTSA for 17 years.
Gabler was put on leave after his arrest last Friday by Alamo Heights police after allegedly being found with the teen in a parked vehicle. Police say Gabler and the youth allegedly met online.
Gabler has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and is free on bond.
An attorney for Gabler has said his client will be exonerated.
