SAN ANTONIO (AP) A police officer for a university in San Antonio has shot and killed a student during a struggle following a traffic stop near campus.
Alamo Heights police say a University of the Incarnate Word officer early Friday fatally shot 23-year-old student Robert Cameron Redus. The officer's name wasn't immediately released pending a review of the incident.
Alamo Heights police Lt. Cindy Pruitt says the officer pulled Redus over for speeding and driving in an erratic manner. The vehicles ended up in an apartment complex parking lot and a struggle broke out.
Authorities say Redus was shot several times by the officer, who radioed for help.
Further details weren't immediately available.
