AUSTIN, Texas - More than $5 million in renovations have been completed at a popular Central Texas swimming hole.
Public celebrations were planned Wednesday at Barton Springs Pool in Austin.
Work began last October to upgrade the pool complex that officials say draws about 750,000 visitors annually.
Robin Camp with the Public Works Department says the goal has been to improve safety and accessibility. The changes include a reworked entrance, new fencing, electrical updates, removal of overhead power lines and paving of the parking lot, replacing a dirt site.
The project also includes creation of a path accessible to people with disabilities.
