WACO, Texas (AP) A Central Texas robbery and assault case has turned into a homicide investigation after police say one suspect was later slain.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton says nobody has been arrested in Tuesday's robbery and deadly attack.
Police shortly after midnight Monday answered a call about a home invasion.
A 19-year-old man says a woman he knows pushed the apartment door open and entered with three men. The resident was beaten, bound and robbed. The suspects fled, including 28-year-old Tarrie Lynn Byrom and one man taking the victim's truck.
The victim, who suffered minor injuries, freed himself and ran to a neighbor for help.
Police later answered a call about gunshots and found the stolen truck on a Waco road. Byrom's body was nearby. She was shot and stabbed.
