The Associated Press reports "DFW Airport spokesman David Magana says one runway has reopened after the temporary closure .. and crews are working to clear the ice from others."

AP adds that "the airport, the eighth largest in the world...Earlier Tuesday, hundreds of incoming flights were canceled due to the massive winter storm sweeping much of the country."

Delays are also being reported at Houston Bush-Intercontinental Airport and Houston Hobby.

Storms are causing about an hour delay at Hobby and about a half hour delay at IAH, according to the FAA.

Airport spokesman David Magana says crews worked to treat runways that glazed over with ice.

DFW is the main hub for American Airlines.

Thousands of people are without electricity during freezing, icy conditions.

Utility provider, Oncor reported more than 20,000 customers Tuesday lost electricity in Texas, with nearly half of the outages in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
